Lower your expenditures, and do what you can to lower your day to day bills. Don't eat out, buy cheaper groceries, etc.

Your question reminds me of a money making scheme that a man once had. He advertised a book entitled how to save money and sold it through the mail. What he send was two sheets of paper folded into pamphlet form and on the outside he had printed the title, How To Save Money, and inside he had printed, Stop Wasting Your Money on get rich in a hurry schemes and books like this. Let's face it he was right, but dishonest at the same time.
But anyway, sit down and make out a budget for your self. List things that have to be paid, like rent, insurance etc, and list things like food, clothing expenses, and what's left over is yours to spend as you like, but you should, put a side something in a bank account. I knew a couple who stopped smoking and every day they put what they would have spent in a jar and at the end of the year she bought herself a mink coat. You would be surprised how much you can save if you give something up, such as cig. drinking water instead of soda, that extra cup of coffee at Starbucks etc.
