First of all, you have to define the word mean, and he probably cares enough to give you more information so you can get further in life ans not drop out of school. He wants you to pay attention and learn. Your going to need it later on.................

Some teachers came out of the pits of hell...I'm not kidding it's like they already have this little profile all made up for you that your the same as all the other kids and they shouldn't take chances that you might be one of the good ones, I think some teachers just need to be let go after a certain period. Sadly there is nothing that can be done that I haven't already tried, even being nice.

If all other attempts have failed such as speaking with the principal or having your parents meet with him.The next time he is being mean for no reason raise your hand, stand up and simply just ask him in a polite way why he acts the way he does.Have your classmates back you up.It could possibly get you after school detention but others in the class would appreciate it.

It's hard to answer without a more specific definition of "mean."
Your teacher probably does not want to be mean. It sounds like a defensive mechanism because he does not know how to control the class.
Perhaps you can have a discussion with him, and you can suggest what things you would like to see done differently. Does he give too much homework? Does he yell? Hit? Play favorites?
Perhaps you can get transferred out of his class.

Probably nothing, sadly.
Realize you're on the higher moral ground and revel in your superiority.

Photoshop his picture into a porn scene and sent it to the school board. Make sure its nasty. Or put drugs in his desk and drop a dime. You'll get immediate action. My nasty Spanish teacher got hit by a car and was out all year.

does your teacher favor and be unjust?m or is he just strict? if he is strict he is doing that to control the class, if he is unjust and favors, you are definitely to stand up for your and your classmates self

people often have a reason why they are mean. just try being nice to him. strike up friendly conversations. just know that if he's mean to anyone, it's not you. it's something else. it might just be a phase....
