Is there a quick, easy way to clean a Nintendo Gamecube laser?

My Gamecube won't read any diskls that I put in, and I think somebody messed with the laser (little cousin or brother). Is there a quick, easy, safe way to clean it? I reallly want to use it. Or do you have any ideas what else it may be and how I can fix that?

use a damp cloth

a q-tip with a little windex on it? ( that mite not be the saffest! so dont try that) maybe just water on a q-tip
