Well, well, well. You have asked the right person. I teach in a middle school and have three or four important pieces of advice that I hope you consider.

1. Start all assignments within 24 hours of getting them.

2. Ask the teacher for help if you do not understand.

3. Finish what you start. In my experience so many kids begin but do not finish, or worse, finish but fail to turn in the assignment for evaluation.

4. Turn of the electronic gadgets and refuse to be interrupted when you are working. I recently taught a remedial class of Grade 8s to prepare them in basic English and Math skills to enter Grade 9, and in the class of 22, and in my opinion, 18 had serious problems with the overuse and fixation on cell phones, computers and other electronic devices. I have a two students right now who are addicts. One boy averages 50+ hours per week on the computer and another student who is part of 4 or 5 virtual worlds where he has assumed alternate identities. Now these two are extreme cases, but I think kids need to be less distracted and try their best to pay attention at school and realize that your "job" as a twelve or thirteen year old is to attend school regularly and do the best you can. You will be rewarded for your efforts in the future. It takes a level of discipline and maturity that many kids do not possess. I hope you do.

Middle School is a very difficult time and a big change! You have to learn to deal with different teachers and different rules for every class. The best thing you can do is talk to your teacher. Go in for extra help during your teacher's tutorial period is there is one. If they do not have one, tell you teacher you are having problems with the work. Let them know you are having trouble understanding what is being taught. Your teacher may not be aware you are having problems. Show them you are making an effort and that will make a huge difference. Good luck!

Don't be scared! Im going into the 9th grade, and middle school was easy! I go to an advanced school, and even that was easy. Just study hard, and be social with people(spend time with people you dont know). Its how you make friends :D

If you are paying attention in class and doing all your work and are still having problems, first talk to your teachers. Find out if they have any specific tips or recommendations for you. They may even know of a tutor (my second recommendation) for you.

Suprisingly one has to actually read to do well in English. For Math just do problem sets. No website can help you more than actually doing the work
