IUDs can cause missed periods. However, if you can't find the string, you need to go to the doctor. That is cause for concern. Good luck.

Unless you need immediate peace of mind.... Save the money on the HPT as a trip to the Dr "is" necessary anyway. SO
First things first, If you can't find the string then get to the Dr. The Dr will tell you if the IUD is still in place or you have lost it PLUS in the same check-up he should be able to tell you if you appear to be pregnant.
He will then be able to take the appropriate steps to handle your situation.
GOOD LUCK

I would go to the doctor to find out. If you are pregnant, it needs to come out right away so it doesn't cause any problems. I don't mean to worry you, but I got pregnant with an IUD that was meant to be changed this month. I had to have it taken out right away when I found out three weeks ago (at 5 weeks). Good luck to you.

you need to call your doctor. Sometimes an iud will cause you to skip periods. don't pull it out until you know for sure you are pregnant.

I would definitely do a HPT because it's so quick and easy to do but you will still need to go to the doctors if you can't find the string.
Good luck xx
