No, you don't. The period is all you need. It's a style preference, since two periods, one to close the sentence and one to close the abbreviation, would be redundant. One period closes both.

No, one period is enough. But most people have pretty much given up on the periods in most abbreviations, figuring the all caps is enough to label it an abbreviation. Then the period is the one at the end of the sentence, and no conflict.

"I am proud to have been born in the US. I was born in Pennsylvania."

Grammatically yes, as the U stands for one thing, and the S for another, and the second period ends the statement. In the same as ; I am from the U.S. , but have spent most of my life in N.Y. . Notice I also used a comma after the U.S. In the last sentence.

Yeah because intitals always usally have periods after them, and sentences end in periods. I asked my teacher that a few weeks ago.
