I disagree with Tony H.
They DO promote it by virtue of their many decades of cover up and payoffs.
Their current poop, Cardinal Ratzinger at the time, was instrumental in said cover ups.
Like it or not - we live in a nation of laws. And the laws of man supersede the will of the church.

Wait a minute. Catholics do not promote pedophiles. People in all walks of life have problems. Priest, Ministers, Rabbi;s, teachers, scout leaders and parents. Because of the labels of being "Priest" under the Catholic Religion doesn't mean we codone pedophiles. I feel that the Church has a major problem that must be addressed and the media doesn't help the situation at all.

That's not a fair question at all. In fact, it's filled with ignorance and prejudice. Catholicism is not set up to promote pedophilia. Just because there has been scandal in that faith doesn't mean the faith promotes that.
There have been several Evangelical Christian groups who have burned abortion clinics and killed abortion doctors. But this doesn't mean for a second that the majority of Evangelical Christians support this. In fact, mainline Christians have denounced this!
Mainline Catholics have denouced the scandal of pedophilia. You cannot allow the scandal of a few to define the greater morality of the mainline. Every group has had scandal. Every group (religious, political, etc.) is human. And no group is exempt from human error. Republicans, Democrats, Catholics, Evangelicals, Protestants, Muslims, Germans, Americans, etc. have ALL had scandal. Can you say that Germans promote the Holocaust or that Americans support slavery? Of course you cannot! Again, scandal does not define the greater portion of a group.

okay, the catholic religion was not "set up" to promote pedophiles. But they need to get a grip on that behavior thats going on.... i really dont think this is the proper place to discuss this type of issue..

I don't think it's set up to promote pedophiles but power. Power over people's thinking and free belief system. They hide true teaching and drive their priest's to insanity with rules and governance that have no biblical background.
They believe in God......but to what extent.
