To those who answered "religion", do you honestly think if religion was abolished, people would not find something else to fight about?

st..u give a good argument towards the futility of war.
and i do believe there are many reasons people will go to war. but i believe these reasons stem from a certain mentality that humans have that bring out aggression. and ego has a lot to do with it.

it looks as if you are really looking for one "cause" -- since it is in singular form. I beg to differ, there are many causes. this having been said --even among the causes their priorities changes -- what is important for Iraq might not be so important for a small country in the midst of Africa and the list and the priorities shift. to sum up -- war brings more humility than a winning side -- and it is my conviction that both fighting "elements" lose during a war. may be the arms industry makes a profit, it brings employment etc. but if we take the balance sheet of the world as a whole and their income statement as a whole -- the humanity is a loser -- no doubt about it. so...in conclusion, there is a temporary win (if u want to call it that way) as long as the leader is in political power but at the end....there is an end to one's life --whether Saddam or Marcos or Pinochet -- when their time is up, it is definitely up. within those contexts all wars are non-sense and therefore not absolutely necessary. i rest my case, how about yours?

It is the lack of comprehension, the lack of understanding the big value of Life and its Transcendence. May you improve the world? Congratulations. Yes you can improve the World. To do that, please increase your capacity of awareness, so you increase your knowledge about the big value of life and its Transcendence. If you do, then, you by conviction, more than by laws or threatens, you, your family, your friends, your community, your nation, will be: "Genuinely Sincere, Grateful, and Respectful with The One Who Gave us Life, with Mother Nature and with ourselves" This is accepted by Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Christians, etc. It is the foundation of The Ideology in order to make US United again, dear. happy New Year 2007
