Im a democrat. But yes....conservatives were right. You know why? Freedom of speech. Its something conservatives HATE. They tried to silence the Dixie Chicks freedom of speech as well as anyone else who doesnt agree with them. But i will stand here and be American enough to say that no matter how ignorant and wrong they are even they (conservatives) have the right to freedom of speech.

This is America, our men and women fight for the freedom of speech. No, they were not right to threaten the Dixie Chicks. That, like so many other events, scared many people into voting against the Republicans last November (2006).

What threats? There was something of a movement to avoid buying their recordings, which seems a pretty equitable tit-for-tat, considering that nobody would have noticed the political statement if not for their celebrity, which is based on their music sales. Using celebrity rather than expertise to broadcast one's opinions should be done with eyes open and no special protections as compared to expert opinion.

The Dixie Chicks are money-grubbing, attention-seeking idiots who are a disgrace to country music and the heritage of country music.
I did not know they were threatened by "conservaties", but I would appreciate your source so I could look it up myself.

No! The only thing they did wrong in that department was not saying something to back up their opinion and make more of an impact w/ voters.

Threatening people for speaking out is a liberal tactic, (IE Columbia University) conservatives just exercised their own right not to buy their albums or see their concerts.

Threaten? They had a right to exercise their own freedom to spend thier money as they pleased, if that is what you mean.
