Partner speaks different language, has different tradition, religion, culture even race. What do you think of? Would you recommend it? Would you advice against? Beside love, is there anything else ethnically mixed marriages have? How to name kids? Which religion should they be?

My advice is if you are not willing to take on his culture 100%, don't get married to a person of a different culture. Ethnicity is nothing, culture is something wars are fought over, and you do NOT need your breakfast table Balcanized. Captain Crunch needs to stay a cereal and not the name of a dude indicted for war crimes.

Seriously, love is fine, but it's not enough to keep a marriage together. If you have different cultures, you are living on different planets even if you're in the same room.

And it's not wonderful for the kids. They end up kids who are real confused about their identity, and had parents who fought a lot.

I see no problem with this type a marriage. But I do believe that to prevent problems you would need to discuss and agree on several issues prior to the marriage.

Which religion will the kids be raised? How will holidays be handled? This and many other questions need to be awnsered b4 you committ.

Talk honestly and openly about all the different traditions, cultures and religiouse believed b4 you even consider marriage. Make sure you are on the same page with everything and that each person understands what the other needs.

Good Luck

As long as the people and compromise I dont see a problem with it.

What a wonderful atmosphere their children will grow up in if the parents are able to share their backgrounds with them. They will be able to learn different languages and about different cultures.

My husband and I are from different cultures. He is Palestinian and I am American. It is an interesting experience. I am learning a lot about his culture and he has been living in the American culture for 6 years. We are giving our kids Arabic names that aren't hard to pronounce and since we are the same religion our kids will follow Islam as well, inshAllah.

I have seen several successful mixed marriages and the main ingredients seem to be lots of love, lots of understanding and compromise. I would not recommend it though to people who are not willing and able to commit themselves to stand by their partner though thick and thin.

It ends bad sometimes. There is always a problem raising children if you differ in opinion based on religion.

I would defineatly recommend it, nothing could be more beautiful then getting to know another person religion, their traditions, language, and race; I think that they would be so beautiful to be together.

you present a complicated and difficult dilema....it is not easy and requires two very strong and commited people who understand all of the potential issues and have discussed and come to agreement on many of them....this is not something to be done casually or without much thought...good luck
