i can think of no way i've ever picked up my child that would cause her arm to come out of socket. i am assuming as to why you didn't seak medical help aside from a chiropractor and are asking your question on here that you don't want to be reported. your child could have nerve damage that isn't apparent yet. and if your child's arm did come out of socket as easily as by being picked up wrong, something medically is wrong with them. this should not happen. take your child to the hospital. i'm not knocking chiropractors, mine is wonderful, i just can't imagine one that would place a child's arm back in place without referring you to a hospital or calling the authorities. this is not normal, and i'm scared for your child if you don't see this as something that needs to be treated by a medical dr. and if your arm was out of socket it would be in a sling until the muscles healed. seriously, do the best thing for you and your child. take them to a er. and talk to someone. you need help and your child needs protection.

Unless it was wrenched out of socket by force, such as a larger person grabbing him by the arm, then it should be okay. Iam assume he simply fell on it funny, or got it caught in the crib slats while sleeping. Just have him take it easy for a day or two. Its not that the arm is loose, its that the muscles holding the arm in place are sore and need to heal up a bit.
its not uncommon for babies joints to pop out of socket, esepcially if you are double jointed, or it runs in your family. If it keeps happening on its own, you might need to see a doctor for physical therapy to strengthen the tendons and muscles of the effected joints.
Babies joints are very limber for the first year or two, all the crawling and moving about helps strengthen them.
I'd keep him contained as much as you can today, maybe give him an infants dose of tylenol if he seems sore, but otherwise its business as usual. If the displacement were very bad the chiropractor would have suggested you go to the ER and have him arm wrapped to keep it from moving.
You can call your pediatrician and explain the situation and ask him how best to handle it.
But thats how I'd handle it.

My son's arms seperate from his shoulders as well. Mine do too.
If you have a difficult time keeping his joints in his sockets you need to speak with your regular doctor. There are medical conditions in which this is a symptom. I saw something recently on Discovery Health about that.

dislocated shoulders take a long time to heal and your baby should not risk re-dislocating it. i have dislocated both shoulders about 6 times each. and they are still healing months later. just try to make sure the activity is not too strenuous.

if it was out of socket, wouldn't it have been broken? Why didn't you take him to the ER? Maybe you should have him x-rayed. I think I would have been a little more scared if I found my infant like that. Unless there's a reason you don't want to take him to the ER?

I think you need to take him to a DR and make sure that everything is ok.
