LOL, I have the same problem. Tons of nice people online but none in person. Maybe they are all phony when they get on the computer.

Great question! I think one of the problems, especially for gay men (and I'm sure I'm going to be abused by the lesbians here, and probably deservedly so), is we're far too concerned with physical attributes, waist, chest, and other body organ sizes, and with the 'too's', 'Too old!', 'Too young!', 'Too bald!', 'Too hairy', 'Too fat!', Too skinny!', and don't pay any attention to peoples personality and intellect. Let's face it, we would all love to jump into bed with Tom Welling, or a young Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise! Who would pass up a night with an Abacrombie and Fitch model for a night with an Elijah Wood or Toby McGuire look alike? The only problem here is we forget; in the morning, you'll have to talk to this guy, and while Toby or Elijah might be able to carry on a real conversation about movies, theater, politics, or current events, how long can you discuss gym hours and personal grooming tips withe the A & F model??? Maybe if we could look past the physical attributes a bit more, and consentrate a little on personality, charm, and intellect, we would find dating a whole lot easier. But keep the faith! There ARE a lot of great guys out there, and, sooner or later, 'Mr. Right' will come your way. You can count on that!!

Their life is inside on their computers. I dialed a wrong number once and really hit it off with this person. I was afraid to scare the person away so I didn't ask any question about getting together. From that though I realized how many people were just sitting by the phone hoping someone would call to light up their life.

Good question -

I honestly think that most people are truly good at heart and want to help others. I think that it is human instinct.

I think the reason why they are harder to find in real life is because our society has made it difficult for these people to express their true feelings and their true selves.

We live in a world that glamorizes youth and physical beauty. The world of the microwave mentality - that is we want it fast, whether or not it is good is immaterial. We demand instant gratification.

People who are truly nice and kind might tend to fall between the cracks in such a world and not be noticed.

Perhaps you are looking for these people in the wrong places or in the wrong groups. Just because they are nice and wonderful does not mean they are going to choose to hang out with those who are not good.(read good to mean wonderful).

I hope this helps - maybe I am just prattering on.

because millions of people are on yahoo and how many are in your town? Get out and travel. Ooorrrr... just try being really nice and helpful to others without motive or reason. Just because you're doing it for yourself. I know I feel better about myself when I'm helping someone. especially when they don't epect it.

Because most of those "wonderful people" are already taken.
