There were actually three planes used in the TV series. The first one was a Cessna t-50 built 8/16/43. The tail fin # was N-5350A. The second and third planes used were Cessna 310C's. One of them had the same tail fin #, N-5350A. Building date sometime in 1959. The third plane had some controversy about the tail fin # having been change for the TV series. If the want to read the whole story, go to google search, trivia of sky king. Then click on the link, Kae Vee's Place-who was Sky King. You will not believe the story behind these planes.

I remember the show, very early 60's, '62 or '63. I was about 3 or 4. Just remember the plane's wings going past the screen and a voiceover, "Sky King!" I think there was a dog in it that belonged to a family living on a farm.

There were two "Songbirds" used in the series - the first was a Cessna T-50 Bobcat, the second was a Cessna 310B.

Kirby Grant .... Sky King (72 episodes, 1952-1959)
Gloria Winters .... Penny King (72 episodes, 1952-1959)

Sky King was a 1940s and 1950s American radio and television adventure series featuring Arizona rancher and aircraft pilot Schuyler (or Skyler) "Sky" King.

Although it had strong cowboy show elements, King always captured criminals and even spies as well as finding lost hikers using his plane.

King's personal plane was called the Songbird. Though he changed from one plane to another over the course of the show, the later plane was not given a number (i.e., "Songbird II"), but was simply known as Songbird.

He and his niece, Penny (and sometimes Clipper, his nephew) lived on the Flying Crown Ranch, near the (fictitious) town of Grover City, Arizona. Penny and Clipper were also pilots, though still relatively inexperienced and looking to their uncle for guidance and mentoring. Penny was an accomplished air racer and rated multiengine pilot, who Sky trusted to fly the Songbird.
