Why do some people detest China while they know nothing about china?

Most people don’t detest China. I am not sure where your information on that comes from. Most Americans know very little about China other than much of what they purchase is manufactured there.

China is a country with the largest population in the world. The most common fear is that if China emerges from its third world status to a full blown industrial nation it will need most, if not all, of the world’s natural resources to fuel its economic engine. China acquired most of the West’s technology and manufacturing knowledge when it repatriated Hong Kong.

It is clear that China is moving forward rapidly. There has been a great deal of internal pressure in China for more human rights and freedoms. The Chinese people are demanding reform. At the same time China is building its military to protect their interest worldwide. They are in the process of building their Navy. China’s goal is to have the world’s strongest Navy—this scares many people.

The hope is that as China matures economically it will develop better relations with other countries in order to keep foreign markets open for Chinese goods. China is truly a gigantic waking dragon—it is natural for some people to fear this.

China fix their value of currency low, so their products can sell cheaper in international market; this will protect them from dumping law. Almost every countries that trade with China have same problem.
It's true that many people don't know about inside of China, but they know what is going on in the market.

It's racism. Many westerners love to hate China and their domination in the world. I guess those westerners forgot that 100 years ago the Chinese suffered humiliation at the hands of some western occupying powers. What goes around comes around.

I have a cousin that just loves it there. He said, "better to be a rich man in a poor country, than to be a poor man in a rich country." I find this humorous, since he married a Chinesse woman that does not ever want to go back!
