What can I do? She constantly tries to open them lol. Is my girl old enough for some potty training or what does that mean? And how would I know she's "gotta go"?

Thanks.

My nephew was the same - an all in one jumpsuit was the only way they would stay on.

Your baby has discovered a new game! She is too young to be potty trained but she IS old enough to know what kind of behaviour brings about an interesting reaction from Mommy! Keep a blank expression (hard to do, babies are just so cute!!) and calmly put her diaper back on everytime she takes it off. She'll get bored after a few times

Even though it's not PC to say you can potty train an 8 month old, you can kinda do it. When my son was 9 mo old I'd put him on the potty every time I changed his diaper and have him sit there a while until he peed (not a long time, and not forced). I would encourage him to pee by sprinkling a few drops of warm water over his penis. If he did pee I would say ssssss (as in the pee sound) and be all happy for him. I would also say this sound if he peed when I was changing him, connecting the sound with the action. If he didn't pee sitting there, we'd just get the new diaper on and redress. It didn't take long to train him to pee when I sat him on the potty, and while he wasn't potty trained in the sense of going to the bathroom on his own, he did finish with diapers fairly early and we did save a lot on diapers doing this.

This is "training". It is a lost art in our society of let-kids-do-their-own-thing, but is vitally important. Everything you do is training. Think of it as simply as when you put on your coat, your child knows you're going outside or when you're fillling up a sippy cup, he knows he's going to get something to drink.

Training is simple and at 8 months your daughter should know that you are the one in charge and that no means no. If it is not an appropriate time for her to take her diaper off then say no, and move her hand away from the tabs. Of course, you should rule out that she is uncomfortable in the diaper, but then she should obey.

To teach no, as in her reaching for something, tap her hand. At this age this shouldn't be painful, just not pleasant. The first few time you have to be ready to be the one with more endurance and patience, after she learns what no means, it will be easy. Just be consistant.

For more info see the book "To Train Up A Child". It's a great resource.

Let her start wearing the pantie diapers. They fit like under wears.
She's figured out how to take the regular ones off so you might want to put shorts on over the diapers. My great niece was potty trained at a very young age. Your baby learned how to take the diapers off meaning she's got the ability to learn, so give it a try. I think you are a good mom.
God bless us all...

If your daughter is taking off her diapers, that is a true sign that she is ready to start potty training. Try to buy the baby pull-ups that have a wet panel so if she is wet she will know and you will be able to tell she is wet. Potty training is time consuming but well worth the time, compared to the cost of diapers.

Try onesies they help keep the diapers on. No she probably not ready to potty train but rather just figured out how to undo the tape and now finds it fun to do.

and? lol. she's 8 months old, this won't stop anytime soon. put her in a onsie, the snaps are hard, but not impossible as i've learned, to open and get to her diaper. if you want to try and train an 8 month old to potty in the toilet, good luck to you. it's difficult and my husband and i have decided to wait until later. but first just try an onsie, or creeper type of clothing, she'll easily get distracted when she can't get to her diaper.

No she's not old enough for potty traing especially since she doesn't know how to "hold it" or walk to the potty if she was ready. Maybe her diaper is too tight or itching her? Maybe she realized these new "toys" and is just curious about the noise or the stickiness. She won't be ready for potty training til at least 2 Put her in a onsie or pants

i ended up letting my kids run around without diapers much of the time. a real advantage to this is that they never ever had diaper rash. another advantage is you will learn who your uptight, puritan neighbors are.

it doesn't mean she's ready for potty training, in all liklihood, but you can make a potty seat available. you can become very alert to her signals and make sure she doesn't go on the floor by putting a diaper back on her.

when it is important for the diaper to be on, put difficult to remove pants on over it.

Unless she's walking its too early for potty training. 8 months aint likely. Try a different brand or style of diaper.

how abot diaper pants?
there's no tape, so she can't open.
Also good for toilet training. Just pull down and do her stuff. and pull up again.

Maybe it's "fun" to keep opening those and have you going after her.. hahaha.. kids.. you won't know what goes thru their mind :D

as for when is time for her "gotta go" do watch out for some signal, if there isn't any signal, perhaps ask her if she wants to "go" in regular interval of say 20 mins.

I did this, and also requested my girl to inform me if she needs to go, but she was older then 8mos at the time i did the training and she knows how to communicate with me.
