Wondering if shopping malls are open now...

In Houston, they are all open and waiting for the customers to run in and open their wallets. Lots of sales and a great start to the new year.

Here in Tucson, AZ, just about everything except government
offices are open on New Year's Day. It is not the same type
of holiday as Thanksgiving and Christmas, so the stores want
to try to make money to start off the year right for their bottom
lines.

all of the malls are opening by where i live but im not sure about all of the other little shops

Refer to business aspect, they will open the mall because the more customer will spend their money in mall.

I am assuming yes. Shopping malls and retailers are all greedy and don not respect holidays and families anymore. It is all about money and sales.
