because there are differnt religious sects (Sunis, Shia, and Kurds) that all want the power/weath in Iraq, or at least an equal distribution of the power/wealth. They are basically having a civil war.
Check this link out. It's very informative. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraqi_insurgency

Because young men there are desperately poor, unemployed and have a heritage of seeing tyrants like Sadam H. and Islamic terrorist as heros; they are sympathetic to anyone who despises America, with all its wealth. So they feel good about killing Iraqis who support the US. Our big need is to get them jobs by providing money/easy loans so they can start businesses and be distracted from destruction. This is out biggest tragedy in the US they we can't see this simple solution, given our great business expertise. We are way too arrogant to think that young Iraqi men will embrace freedom like we do.

This is what I cant understand about the Islamic extremists they claim they are peaceful yet they continue to kill off each other and ours...,but then again look at whats going on here,we have the gang ms13 that were indoctrinated by the terrorists to come here and do their job,and its working. We have so many murders by gangs here in the states now and more people killing each other with road rage incidents,so I guess we should ask the same? But the difference between us and them,we dont strap bombs to kids.Big difference,we arent cowards that use children to make a religious statement.

Why does ANY group turn on others of the same group? The US Civil War for example?
It's because you have different people of the same group fighting for different causes. I don't support violence against any group, but this is the reason. You have some in Iraq who support the US being there, while you have others there who despise the fact we are there.
Just like with the US Civil War, you had Americans fighting against one another. In Iraq, there is civil war brewing there.

Iraqis have no loyalty to their nation. They believe in tribalism. Tribe for them is above everything. Most of all, they are either Shia or Sunni. Those two religions are at odds for more than 1300 years. Each claims the other is not really Muslim.

Alot of it is foreign insurgency. There is a Sunni and a Shiite division in the Muslim world the Sunni think the shite are heretics. Some of the fighting is over that. Some of it is politically motivated using the religion as the dupes...

They are fighting because most are told to or they themselves will be killed. Fear controls those people. Too bad you don't mention that most of Iraq does not have that problem. Most of Iraq is living in peace. This is the last stronghold of the radical Islams area. It is a fight to the death.

Fighting to de-populate their country.
I understand that the most revered family there has a long lineage of suicide bombers. It's like having all your family members graduating from ivy league schools.

it's complicated, but basically it is power and influence within the country. the u.s. removed their leader and now we are fighting for their "freedom" by killing groups fighting for control and calling them extremists or insurgents or bad guys.
it's a huge mess that we have no business being involved in, but some reason we are still there.
