Your problem strikes me not as being a lack of physical tactics or strategies, but your state of mind. You seem to be one of those people who lose almost all tickle fights because of at least half wanting to lose them. It's likely to be something of which you aren't conscious, but you could have all the best tricks and plans in the world, only if you do subconsciously want to lose your best efforts will still get you nowhere. Even if you get off to a good start, sooner or later the thought will push its way through from the back of your mind that your opponent is going to tickle your feet, or you'll see your opponent take a glance at your feet and suddenly you'll freeze up inside, entirely involuntarily. It will be as if your feet can feel the tickling all over them from heel to toe and everywhere in between until the part of you that craves being tickled gains sufficient dominion to force your feet to shift into an accessible position without your knowing it. Then as the fight intensifies you'll develop a sense of your opponent pulling your socks off and tickling your bare feet that will become sufficiently strong to paralyze you enough to drive all winning ideas out of your head, but at least you'll get what you really wanted all along, your feet tickled...

Do you quit because you really have to cover up or do you lose because you are enjoying the tickling so much?
When I have the rare opportunity to have a tickle fight, I love to tickle but I also love to be tickled so I will sometimes lose intentionally to enjoy more tickling. If they stop, I tickle them again.

Know the weaknesses! You know yours, find out about the competition. Some people have real sensitive bellies, on others it's the ribs. Sometimes it's the underarms. Another good location is the kneecaps. Lightly grab the sides of the kneecaps, and watch them squirm.
Be gentle, keep it fun.

The answer is simple to say, but hard to put into practice; get to their most ticklish spots before they can get to yours! I agree, however, that this is easier said than done, especially if your opponent knows you well. My feet are also my greatest weakness, so if I can choose a tickle opponent, I'm going to take one who is ticklish on the upper body. It far easier to get to pits and ribs than to get to feet. It's also vital to stay standing for as long as possible, as most of us are far more ticklish on the bottoms of our feet than the tops. For myself, I have to admit that, if my opponent gets to my bare toes, it is over; I'll give up in a minute if they start tickling me under and between the toes!

The key is to not let them get to your weak spots ...I am very ticklish on my feet so I keep them as far away from the fight as I can ....If they do get to them I will plant them flat on the floor and try to keep the person from getting to the most vulnerable spots
Keep having fun
