a carport has a better chance of seeing a car than a garage

On the street I live on, it is about 50%. The others that I have seen open have room for a bicycle if you toss it on top of stuff. I have 2 garages, one 2 car and one 4 car, I have a car I am building in it. Other than that, the others stay outside. I think the name garage that suggests that they are for cars is outmoded. They should be called trash cans with a large door and there should be a rule that nothing is to ever leave these places once something goes in. Cluttered garages are a true sign of hillbillyism, except in my case!

While I don't know the answer, I believe the answer is strongly correlated with the place where you have the house, as well as whether the house has a basement or not (i.e. additional availability of storage space).

If you have a basement and your house is located in a winter climate, you will probably use your garage to park your car.

I used to live in Wisconsin but now I live in Maryland. There were very few people in Wisconsin that did not park the car in a garage. How would you like to scrape the windshield every day in the winter? People in Wisconsin would like to avoid it too. However, in Maryland I see a lot of people using their garage as a storage area, particularly if they just have a 1-door garage.

I have a 2 car garage and 2 cars.

I park 1 car in the garage, and 1 car outside. I would park both cars in the garage, but 1 of my cars is too long, and the door won't close.

Probably not many. If you want you can take the number of answers you get on here. Divide the number of people that use a garage for parking their car by the number of answers you get. I don't have a garage.
