Factories and workers want to make quick money and forget about their images and reputation.
Some people think China will repeat Japaneses success path, and I think it is too optimistic. China exports these crappy products since the 80's and we see little improvement.
Japanese and Korean not just want to make money, they also care about their national images

It's crappy because it's MADE crappy with inferior parts and metals. Especially tools. Whatever you pay for a Chinese made product, you can bet that a VERY small fraction of the price was the cost of actually making it.

They are in the early stages of the industrial revolution. I can remember (in the 1950s, right after WWII) when stuff from Japan was just like that. And look at them now!
