check in lost and found in newspaper,or if they lost it at a grocery store, check there to see if someone lost it,there might be a reward. It could be bad luck if you don't return it to its rightful owner.
If you put an ad in paper under found,I wouldn't put that it was a 2.37 carat diamond,I would just put that you found an item at where you found it,because there will be scammers out there for sure saying it is theirs.

That's a very specific weight you are listing. If you found such a diamond, I would question where you found it, and why you did not take steps to attempt to locate the rightful owner (ie the person who paid for the diamond). If you were unable to locate the rightful owner after an honest attempt, I'd counsel you to have the diamond appraised, and then sell it or keep it as equity.

I can't believe how yucky some people are! No wonder our world is the way it is. Of course, I would try to find the owner. I would check the paper, and probably post it there as well. If I couldn't find the owner, I might sell it and donate the money to charity.

I'd put an ad in a couple of local newspapers. If I found it near a store, I talk to a clerk inside the store to see if we could figure out a way to see if someone inside lost it. I would never notify the police. If I couldn't find the owner, I'd hold on to it.

I'd hand it in to the police and hope for a reward after all no decent jeweller would buy it off me or make it into a ring without proof of ownership. It wouldn't do me any good so I'd hand it back.

I would give it back... I know "diamonds are (usually considered) as a girl's best friends", but I don't really like them...
