Just let it go.....so many other things to worry about in this life...it is only one night....now maybe if they were keeping you up at night all the times, but remember there are people in iraq getting blown to pieces everyday, I think you don't have it so bad.

Shooting firearms in the air?! Really? Discharging a firearm within city limits will get you some time in jail where I live. I find it odd that any city in America would allow such a thing. I know I did not here any gun fire here in my town. I'm from Montana. We are very pro-gun here. We are also very sensible, respect full and law abiding when it comes to firearms and safety. Based upon what you have said here and on other evidence, it would seem that a vast majority of Americans have become infected with stupidity. Anyway, I'm glad that you made it to 2007 safe and healthy and I wish you great prosperity for the new year.

I live in Germany. From my dining room window we can see the whole town spread out below us. We rang in the new year watching a spectacular fireworks show. It was like the grand finale on the 4th of July, only it lasted for about 45 minutes. I think fireworks are fun. But I agree with you on your other point about guns. People shouldn't shoot into the air in urban or suburban areas. That's just irresponsible.

Yes those bullets come down just as fast as they go up. One put a hole in the hood of my car a few years ago on New Years Eve.
That would have gone right through the skull of anyone standing there.
People really can be careless and just plain idiots, and being intoxicated exacerbates the problem when they make the choices they make.
You would think after spending this much time on this planet that we would be smarter than this by now.

I didn't read your entire question. I couldn't get past the statement that alot of the guns fired "sounded illegal" What does "illegal" sound like as applied to a gunshot???
My other impression is that you seem to be very uptight. Yes, people should be careful, but that isn't always the case. Don't let it ruin your year

Fireworks rock!!! I agree about the gunfire in the air, BUT, if you feel so strongly about it, maybe you should go to your next city council meeting and sit with all the other "angry about something" senior citizens that are sure to be complaining again about young people driving to fast in the neighborhood & running over the poor little squirrels, fireworks, loud music, slow police response time, ect.
You are a great citizen and a credit to the community!! Happy New Year!!!

I really do agree with you. I mean, come on! There's enough horrible violance and stupidity happening in the world without drunks firing guns into the air!
Plus, all of those shells, and the bullets, that come down, are poisening the environment! Animals accidently eat that stuff all the time!

I brought in the New Year by going to a strip club w/a gorgeous guy. The strippers were bored to tears (as were we), but we came home and celebrated "privately." That worked well for us.
