Do ordinary folks, especially those without or with little scientific knowledge, or just ordinary people whether working or slacking off, know the existence of antimatter? or have even heard the word 'antimatter' at all?

No. Unfortunately science has gotten very sophisticated and uses expensive instruments and data gathering that are in no way accessible to the general public.

And, since a lot of people are not educated in science and don't trust institutions like science, they don't believe in a lot of things that are accepted as true in the scientific community. Some common examples are the big bang, evolution, and global warming. A more extreme example is the moon landings.

Even if they've seen the word antimatter, they're very unlikely to have any understanding of what it means. If you told them they'd probably doubt it. Just another crazy idea from those scientists.

Some do. Of course, not much of it exists -- a few atoms have been made in the laboratory, but since it is completely destroyed on encounter with ordinary matter, it doesn't stay around for long.

Most people think it's just science fiction. The real question, though, is do antipeople know that ordinary matter exists?

Who knows what information people have in their head.

Most sci-fi movies have introduce them to term at least. Most science classes do mention it.

My guess it doesn't affect them in what they do from day to day.
So to most in is not important.

it depends. ordinary ppl come in many shapes and brain sizes. frankly i dun think ppl really care wat antimatter is. they would rather discuss and debate about wat to wear during the school prom.
