Me and my friends trying to figure this one out. If you're more attractive, do you become more picky in picking a girl/boy? Particularly choosing those of the 'same' league as you ? At least not conciously.

I know personality comes into play but that isnt really the main thing.

What the hell is up with the thumbs down! Im not trying to promote lookism, just plain curious. No need to be so politically correct and bias.

actually u and ur frendz r right to a certain extent.i can say out of personal experience that a frend of mine had found true love in an avg lookin guy but as she started losin weight and became slim, gave herself a professional makeover she seemed 2 move away frm the guy as she found him to be an unsuitable match.
but u cud say that this incident wud hv been subjected to various other kinds of pressures too.so we can't solely blame one's "attractiveness" for this.
also an adage goes "the first impression is the last impression".so it actually depends on how one perceives of another in their first meeting.and yes it is a known fact that most ppl(99%) relate attractivenees to external beauty solely.but that 1% of ppl who term one's internal beauty as attractiveness are right in their own way...n i think ...perfectly correct
so buddy no matter how cliched it gets....90% on yahoo answers may not admit it but yes ppl want sum1 who is more or equally attractive than them.but the main thing is how each one perceives attractivenees and that is the deciding factor..
so good luck wid ur answers!!

"unattractive people just settle for less because they know they can't do better unless they are rich" Of course. If you had a hot chick dating an ugly guy, sooner or later she would leave him for someone better looking unless he had some other advantage over her other prospects. Everyone is looking for the best bargain that they can get. You don't try to buy the Jaguar if you know that all that you can afford is a Yugo.

Different people are attracted to different people... If a really attractive guy finds a girl attractive, it coud be possible in your eyes that they're both ugly. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and everyone's beautiful but not everyone can see it.

Upward mobility is a desired thing in this life.. One wants to better oneself in a number of ways. That is perfectly normal. And, of course, one chooses people who are attractive over those who are not. It works to your advantage to do so.
There is nothing wrong with that, nothing at all.

No- they settle for someone at the same level. unless its someone with a poor self image. I used to go out with miss Indpenance co. She was really good looking and I found out after meeting her ex boy frient why she was with ugly me. Ugly ex. Mostly its what you can get.

I dont spend much time thinking about how attractive ppl are. There are other qualities to keep in mind that are more important. I just live life, and let what happens happen.

Not necessarily. Sometimes an ugly but charismatic person is a winner.
