I think it depends on where you live and the fact that President Ford didn't die in office. Like JFK for example, he died while in office, causing schools to be closed early and closed the day of his funeral.

No-maybe in D.C., but usually schools don't close for a President's death or funeral. Except when JFK was killed, schools let out early and I believe they were closed for the funeral.
