In the American media, word is that Saddam Hussein’s last words were: “Down with the traitors, the Americans, the spies and the Persians.”

In the Israeli media, it’s supposedly “Palestine is Arab.”

What did he really say?

I just want to say that this hanging should have not happened because as Christian countries we must set an example that life is very special to every human being no matter what. Mr.Saddam was maybe a s.o.b. according to his foes, the shiites...but we must remember that Jesus gave up his life for giving life not death. The shiites belong to another muslim sect that is more dangerous to westerners than the suniites who governed Iraq with Saddam... keep in mind that the shiites are governing Iran whose prime minister said that Israel should be wiped out of the world map. Let us tell the arab countries that death penalty is not viable in a civilized and democratic country. Of course, democracy is an strange idea to the millions of muslims, and can not be imposed upon them.

I'm not sure we'll really ever know for sure. All accounts I have heard are, "Palestine is Arab," including here in the states. Here's a web site I found that may be of interest to you...

According to CNN, Hussein's last words were to recite the Shahada ("There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is his prophet"), and the floor dropped as he said the word "Muhammad".

When he slipped the noose around Saddam's neck the hangman said, "God damn you." In response Saddam said, "God damn you!" And those were his last words that anybody could hear. He was mumbling a prayer to himself until he dropped.

I saw the cell phone video of his last moments,,, some people chanted "Muqtada, Muqtada, Muqtada"....then Saddam said "so... this is the hanging, this is the shame hanging"... and one said "to the hell".. then one chanted "Long live Muhammad Maqir Al-Sadr" (dead), and another said "To the hell", then he started the muslim shahada, he said it once, then the second reaches the middle "mohammed is ...." then noises and he was hanged.
