They stuck us on these god-forsaken Indian reservations, i'm out here in the deserts of Nevada. 500 tribes are still in existence, but we
're the minority of the minority if you get my drift.

Native Americans were nomadic, and tribal. As a result, tribes would slaughter other tribes for land and they would conquest one another. Along comes the British, French, and Spaniards. With more money, the primitive Native Americans were no match. Some sold out other tribes for trade. Others tried to revolt only to meet a certain demise due to their inferior might. In the end, like so many civilizations from the past the Native Americans neared extinction. The only reason they still exist is because of treaties offered and agreed between the conquerors and the conquered. Don't feel guilty. History happens for a reason and most of the worlds inventions would not have been possible otherwise.

Ever hear of Reservations? Actually quite a few tribes were nearly killed off over the years and joined into the Cherokee Nation. Another thing is the idea of "only people here". Do you realize how small the country was? You make it sound like they had millions of them running around. They really weren't in that large of numbers. They simply didn't repopulate to the degree of Immigration and the other races repopulating.

No, the white man didn't kill that many of them. There weren't that many to start with. If you want to find Indians, go where the Indians are. We have a settlement just 20 miles down the road, I've met many Indians in my time. They are great people.

My great grandfather stayed off the rez and passed for white. No one would believe that I'm any part Indian, my mom or grandfather either. If my great grandfather were black I think you would count me as black. So part of it is that alot of Indians assimilated.

Also many full blooded Indians still live on the rez so you are not going to see them unless you go there.

And the white man really did kill that many, and many more died from European diseases.

Get this. The city just spent millions to put up a human rights memorial. They chose Ann Frank to put up as their symbol of man's inhumanity to man. What hypocrites. As if they have to go all the way across the ocean. What the US government did to Chief Joseph and the friendly Nez Pierce was every bit as awful, and it went on for decades, and the Nez Pierce walked this land.

Disease that the white man brought with him no doubt killed more than bullets did. However, there are many, many Indians around. I have many friends in many states of different tribes. As a child, living a couple of hundred miles from a reservation, I had hoped to grow up to be an Indian. I didn't realize that my English and Danish heritage precluded that from the beginning.

Many still live on Indian Reservations where they try to continue their culture and traditions. Then, of course, many have been absorbed into American culture as they moved off the reservations and became absorbed into the American culture.

Chow!!
