I would think carefully about tattooing - if they made an error you could have permanently lopsided brows.

I would check out Lancome - I think they have a very good brow kit.

Also try the Benefit brow kits or Make Up Forever.

I have a great pencil in an auburn tone and it is Kryolan (professional make up brand - available from Charles Fox in London).

I have also heard - although never tried it or seen evidence of it - that you can use Rogaine (sp?) - just dab a cotton wool bud into it and then onto the patchy areas. It is that stuff recommended for encouraging hair growth when you are going bald.

There is an easy solution to learning how to do makeup for your brows. Go to any good makeup counter which does free makeovers. Merle Norman does free makeovers, and teaches you how to apply their makeup. They have an awesome brow product (a powder that you can apply with a little brush in short strokes so it looks like little hairs that are naturally growing). Their sales consultants are trained to help you like this and it is fun and free. I am not recommending any particular brand because the makeup section of any major department store has really nice cosmeticians who can do this for you. Practice will make it easier for you to shape your brows. I am 58 years old, and have seen many different makeup styles in my "makeup life" of more than 40 years. Some years skinny brows were popular, other years, a more natural look was front and center. You are correct, if you have plucked the hairs from your brow for a long time, they may or may not grow back in or may be "scraggly" looking for a while. It usually just takes several months for them to regrow back to a good state. I noticed there are several differing opinions on "permanent brows". I have a friend who is a natural light blonde with the pale brows and lashes to go with it. She went to a cosmetic surgeon --- this should not be done in a beauty salon, it is a "medical" procedure that needs to be done by someone who knows about safety around your eyes. Hers looked very natural, and saved her time every morning. She also told me at the time (several years ago) that it would fade with time, and then she would need to do it over again. It was worth it to her because she had several small children and an active career and was ALWAYS frantic to get everybody where they needed to go in the mornings - thus, not a lot of makeup time. It is not cheap, but neither are lots of good makeup products, just depends on whether you can afford it or whether you think it is worth splurging on this procedure. (I vote for the eyebrow powder!). Makeup is fun, and should enhance our good points and cover up what we see as our flaws. Don't be overly concerned if you are not a good eyebrow "drawer" at first, others are not as interested in the shape of your brows as you may think. They are busy worrying about their own flaws and afraid you may see them! Have a healthy and happy 2007.

Go to somewhere like walmart and the pencils are in the makeup aisle. If you still have some shape to your eyebrows, use them as a stencil for drawing. Practice makes prefect. Q-tips work really well to help form your eyebrows to the shape you prefer.

Firstly, i wanted to say how lucky you are to have red hair! I wish I was born with red hair, I just love it!
The only thing I can advise is shadow looks more natural than pencil, I know Body shop, Ruby & Millie sell them but as far I know the're in shades of brown & grey. the only thnig to do is to go a alarge department store & ask around the different make-up artists there. MAC , Bobby brown have good maek-up artists but try different ones until u find one that does aggod job & looks natural. it's better if someone else goes with you to tell you if they look natural.
As for tattoing, what if you have them done & they don't look good? you have to choose a good beauatician & one that specialises in your colouring.

i think the best solution for you would be get a lip liner and a light brown eyeliner and mix the two (draw lightly over your brows with the brown then repeat with the red)

other than that the other option is to get semi permanent tattoos, visit a beautician for info on that

try boots or any department store, if visitng a department store you can get advice and a makeover from certina counters (clinique is great)

go to boots, pick up an eyeliner , which is like reddy brown, or a lipliner.. any would do, as long as its soft, you can then draw over your eyebrows and it would look natural. just make sure the colour is near abouts your eyebrow colour, doesnt have to be an exact match. Mac do plenty of colours..

Being a red head it may be hard to find a color that would look natural. You might consider getting your hair cut in bangs until your eyebrows grow out and you can reshape them better. The bangs will help camouflage this transitional period.
