I moved into new build May2005 and have had various snagging done(reluctantley)by builder.Now all my telephone extensions have packed in and I can only plug in one phone in test socket.Tried everything,does anyone know if it would be covered by snagging as I didnt fit them,the extensions were fitted by builders

it's typically 2 years during which time you should contact your builder in writing to notify him of the defect. If you're still having problems check to see if he's a member of a recognised building charter such as NHBC (national house building council) and if you dont get any further with your builder take it up with them. good luck

What does the term snagging mean? I figured out the term "packed in" and I guessed at snagging. Those terms must be UK, because they are not used in the US.

The phone problem is a wring problem inside the house. Here, we have the option of paying the phone company a nominal monthly fee to "insure" the phone lines inside the house. If there is a problem, the phone company fixes it for free. It is like insurance.

I assume you don't pay that fee or you could have the phone company fix it. Actually, that really isn't the point. The point is that the builder did it wrong and he/she should fix it, for free.

Snagging periods are usually between 6-12 months, depending on what is agreed with the builder.
May 2005 will prob be out of a snagging period. You will be better off getting in an engineer.
