OK, I don't know how good a shot I have, but here's the deal: I'm 11, I'm 5'8", and I can touch the net and am about 1 ft away from the rim. What good exercises can I do to get stronger, quicker, and higher?
Please give real answers, no stupid ones like "get a trampoline" or "lower the basket". I can already dunk on an 8'6" hoop. I can also palm the basketball. Any good exercises? Thanks for the help.

Leg presses will build your leg muscles. To build your calf muscles, it sounds stupid but it works, use a stationary step and put the balls of your feet on the step leaving your heels over the edge and press up using the balls of your feet. Your calves will burn like hell, but as long as you don't over do it, you will build the muscle without tearing a calf. Yes, you can do this nearly anywhere, even at the bus stop by putting the balls of your feet on a curb and knocking out a quick 25 reps waiting for the bus.
For leg presses, use LIGHT weights, high REPS. You want to build, but not bulk up. Increase weights slowly over a long period of time. You want athletic muscle, not body building muscle.
And remember, good nutrition is key to EVERY part of improving your body. You don't need to buy stuff at a store to help you build muscle. Eat good foods, period. That's the first thing. No, that doesn't mean you can't eat junk food occasionally, it means that you have to eat a very large majority of food that is good for you. Avoid prepared foods and cook using raw ingridiants. Cooking is a great thing to learn, and you now have an excuse to learn how to cook.
If you are 11, that would mean that you have a school nurse, unless you are home schooled. Find some free time and talk to her about nutrition. I am certain that she has some basic things she can give you about nutrition and you can look on the web for more things. I am not saying this because I think you may be, but even if you are dirt poor, there are plenty of very heathy foods you can purchase that are very inexpensive that have huge nutritional benefits. Yes, that means maybe trying things like Liver and Onions because of the high iron content in liver. AVOID GNC OR OTHER STORES LIKE THEM. You just don't need them.

hey,you can find a programme to build up your muscles everywhere, that's not a big deal.the real stuff hides in a new-generation training called "plyometrics".plyometrics are used to change the weight center of the body so you can jump higher with a lesser power.think of spud webb,he can jump really high, but i don't think he is really muscular.you should do plyometrics trainings.it's a must for a high level of jumping.in your daily life, you can climb stairs by jumping with your one foot, two feet etc. this kind of an exercise also helps you to develop some stamina.here are some books that you can find about plyometrics drills :

Try sole jumpers, they will help build your calves. You've got to build your calves to jump. You can get them at your local sporting shop. Also, try setting a goal by putting a marker on your backboard (like a piece of tape or something) use a ladder so it's not easy to reach, everyday keep trying to touch the marker w/ using the sole jumps. Focus on the calves though.

I would tone my calves and build them up so they can get stronger and lighter for muscle is actually lighter than loose skin or fat and it should increase your vertical leap .You are also still growing so let some of it come naturally because it appears you will be over 6 feet tall and experience your adolescent growth spurt. Don't let your growth spurt catch you unaware and eat protein-rich food and exercise.
