I believe the happiest period of Anastasia's life was before WWI when her father was less pre-occupied with the war effort and more effort was placed on things befitting Czar Nicholas and her mother Czarina Alexandria. It was believed she was the apple of her father's eye due to her quiet shyness and also the youngest of his daughters. It would have been also before her mother was superstitiously in awe and/or mesmerized by the mad monk Rasputin and their father's inglorious abdication.
