I installed it for old times sake. Updated with the 1.1.1.0 patch full, 85mb from fileshack or fileplanet. I cant play on the internet. LAN or 'Internet' because it gives me the dialogue 'Your Half-Life executable is out of date'. I click OK so that it 'auto updates' and the auto update thing works, tells me my patch is out of date - but there are no patches to update my version.

..... ? Is it something I'm doing wrong, or are Sierra finally COMPLETELY useless?

Try registering the game and downloading Steam. They might have an update. If they don't, resist the urge to kill your computer with a crowbar :D

Actually, registering your game might just give you access to more Half Life games. I registered my Blue Shift/Opposing Force pack and found the original Half-Life, Team Fortress, Counter-Strike, and some more games were available to me.

Do yourself a favor and REGISTER IT!

get this update it will allow you to play on 600+ servers
http://v4.steamlessproject.nl/index.php?sid=&page=hl1112
note its version 1112 this does not involve steam in any way
its not against the HL EULA to use this 3rd party update
steampowered will say otherwise as long as you are not running any public game servers "witch is possible" its perfectly legal
this is protocol 46 aka "WON" not 47 "STEAM"
