when you get home from school, take a one hour break, then study before/or right after dinner,,, do not wait till too late at night,,,,,, and set an hour as your study time,,,,,, also ask at your school about tutoring or after school programs,,,,,, if its possible for you to stay an extra half hour or so a few days of the week,,,,,, if you do, then on those days only study for an half hour more at home,,,,,

so , find a good time for you,,,,, study for that hour,,,,,,,, do it every day,,,,,,, if you have a friend or two who could come over once a week and help you,,, that would be great! if your parents can afford to pay a high school senior or college student to tutor you, once or twice a week for an hour,,, at say $6 an hour,,,, the money would be well spent,,,,,,, either way, pick one subject to study each day,,,,,, and rotate it,,,,, according to what /when your test/projects due are ,,,,,
get your parents/siblings/friends involved, they can always ask you questions/review with you,,, and offer you encouragement

This can be the result of many things
1) You are not very clear why you need to study ? Whatever age you are you have picked you something which is preventing you from studying
Check with people around, ask them and listen with an open mind - may be something you see or hear will trigger you of and you will start studying. All this not being able to study is a result of not having a clear mind/vision or not realising the consequence of not studying. If I tell you I will give you whatever you want (and if you really believe me ) if you get 60 plus marks this year will you not
2) If you have some learning problems or capability related issues get some professional help - again If you are clear that you want to - I am sure your parents will surely help you out - check with them
3) Just for an experiment - Tell some one to lock you in an empty room with out anything else like TV, computer in your room - only your text books should be there and see the results when you get bored and have no options your text books will be the most interesting item around
4) Try this thing called 'postive affirmations' - try google search and you will have the information
5) If you are near 18 years of age try the 'Landmark Forum' which operates in may cities in India but be careful it sometimes has some negative effects also

Your problem is not with studying, I don't study and have a 3.3 in college. It is all about finding a way to enjoy what you are learning. Find a buddy to study with who will care about you and your success. You also need to find out what you want to do when you grow up. This can help you gear your studying towards certain areas. Don't make the mistake of trying for an A. You will get the same degree with all C's as all A's. Figure out what you need for a C and work from that. If you bust your butt the first few weeks, the last half of the period you can slack and have fun and still pass. I always ace my first test and they go downhill from there. Sometimes i can even skip the last test and still pass. GOOD LUCK>

Firstly, remember that doing well in studies is not the most important thing for doing well in life, although it certainly helps. Honesty, integrity, courage and self-confidence are more important. We come across very average students doing exceedingly well in life and most brilliant high scoring students - becoming very average individuals in real life situations like jobs and taking care of families etc.

Secondly, take small steps at a time and try to win little battles with your studies. Do not be scared by the volume or complexity of a subject or course. Do whatever little you can do but do it thoroughly. Take breaks while studying - say once in every 15 minutes or so and relax.

Thirdly, try and do combined studies with someone you like in your class. It helps greatly.

Finally, remember that you are as good or as bad as any other student of your class. Difference is in confidence level and technique. Do not feel let down by the previous failures. You can and you will succeed without doubt, as you have succeeded in your previous eight classes. Good luck and God Bless.

Find out, what actually is diverting your mind ... some thing like movies or friends or any habits might be pulling your mind ... first realise them and then work on them.

2. Make good friends and discuss with them
3. Take tuitions, do not study by your own, if you are not confident on your continuity
4. Try to enjoy the studies as a game, but not as a boring routine .. enjoy it
5. Pay attention on the place where you are studying .. make it pleasent... do not read on bed or in bed room
6. Practise meditation for focusing

I also had the same habit.I used to fail in the exams for not studying in school.I used to spend the whole year without studying and finally when the exams are a month away i study for 12 hrs daily and try to cover the syllabus.I suggest u to cut your daily routine like watching TV,going out, etc.Try to divert your mind towards your studies.I used to fail in 3 to 5 subjects in school but now Iam a topper in my college and also in sept Iam going to UK for my studies, got an admission in London School Of Economics.

More than any advice self control is what you need dear. Although if things get out of hand you can try this:
Start thinking that you will fail, then in deatil imagine the consequences- shame, taunts, insults. If you want to avoid that then start studying.
