for example, if we conceive on 31st Dec, (under perfect condition - health etc...), when would we be able to expect the baby to be born?

40 weeks from the day of your last menstrual period. Conception occurs after your period has ended. Conceiving on Dec. 31, lets assume your last period started around December 15. You would be due around September 21

40 weeks is the norm. I went 43 1/2 weeks with my first. Good luck.

40 weeks is normal gestation for a human. your dr will be able to give you a better due date once you go in for a sonogram.
