Utmost graciousness and courtesy to ladies!!!!

Hmmm - I think it varies. My boss is extremely chivalrous and most of the men where I work are chivalrous. However when out and about I tend to find chivalry in fairly short supply.

It's a real shame - as well as being good manners, I also think that being taught to be chivalrous when younger teaches boys to respect women.

And from a romantic perspective a chivalrous man does it for me everytime! My ex was very un-chivalrous and it wound me up a treat as I found it rude.

Thanks for the interesting question...

Not for me thankfully, my hubby is a real gent and his chivalry is second to none, he is very chivalrous to everyone and I am so proud of him for been a real gent, no matter how many times he gets told off by women for opening doors for them, it never stops him because hes a gent, thankfully there are still a good few gentlemen about these days and long may they be, happy new year and all the best.

There's not a yes or no answer to this. I still see men and women holding doors for each other and in general being very polite and cordial. I'm a teacher and I have lots of students who offer to carry things and hold doors open for me. They also help their fellow classmates if one of them drops all of his or her books or happens to be carrying a lot. But then, I also see people being very rude and having a "every man for himself" mentality. So, I guess it's not really dead, but at the moment isn't feeling that great.

It does seem to be in many ways, yes.

It seems lately that I see a lot of guys taking seats while there are women still standing, going through the door first and not holding it for the woman behind them, and stuff like that.

Unfortunately, so... and it's a real shame... I, personally, would love to have doors held open for me, chairs pulled out, etc... It's gentlemenly and nice... I see women struggling with pushchairs, and sometimes their own partner doesn't bother to help...
The way men speak to me on the phone at work is terrible also... So much swearing and abuse... They forget we're someone's daughter/wife/mother... I'm sure that wouldn't have happened years ago..

Not in my circle, but admittedly it is not the great white knight on a grand steed. It is more the considerate male who is courteous and reasonably mannered, and puts his lady first.
Equally, I have seen gay couples (male and female) also being chivalrous toward and with regard to one another.
The rules may have changed but the human inside still has the capacity.
