Spiderman-sticky hands and feet-so how can he climb up walls with his shoes on??

yes in the 1st spidey film when he first realises his powers he shinnies up the nearest wall in his reeboks...he must have very hairy feet..

as was mentioned before Spidey does not usually climb up walls with his shoes on.

In the movies it was established that he has microscopic "hooks" all over his body, specifically his hands and feet. (This was also said in answers perviously)

In the comics it has been alluded to (and kind of accepted) that Spider-man has the ability to increase "inermolecular forces" between his skin and various surfaces (Two answerers also made mention of this). This allows him to cling to walls and ceilings. It should also be noted that he has sat against a wall with only his butt and toes contacting the surface and was able to support his own weight (plus there is a great visual of a McFarlane drawn Spidey standing upside down with a donut clinging to each of his fingers.) His suit and normally thin cloth (like socks) does not interfere with this ability.

If you saw the movies, you might have missed that scene where he notices little hairlike hooks that come out of his skin. Real spiders have them. They are microscopic, but there are millions of them, so that he sticks to ordinary surfaces like Velcro. (Of course, he can’t seem to stick to glass, or polished metal, because they are too smooth; there are not minute cracks and bumps for him to hook onto.)

He may also have a power that increases the Van der Waals attraction between his hands and feet and surfaces that he is trying to climb. (look up Van der Waals force in Wikipedia, if you’re interested.)

So his hands and feet are not sticky as with glue. The little hairs protrude through his socks (and the booties of his spideysuit) so that he can cling to surfaces. I the comics, he has been shown having to remove his shoes if he ever has to climb a wall as Peter Parker. If they showed him climbing a wall as Parker in the movie with his shoes on, that was a mistake.

In the film, they made a big shot of hairs on the end of Pete's fingers. But you're right, they wouldn't stick out through the suit. Besides, the hairs on the back of my arms have never enabled me to velcro myself to the wall!!!

In the comics, I just think it was a general power - nothing to do with hairs. I remember one issue where Spidey was explaining his powers and he did say that his suit was quite thin to allow the powers to work.

The original Handbook of the Marvel Universe stated he does not stick to walls like a spider but rather it is a weak magnetic bond. Makes sense as he can turn it on and off.

In the comics Peter's fingers and feet are adhesive, instead of having hooks on them like in the movie, so the fingertips of his gloves are thin enough for the adhesive to be able to go through them and stick through walls. He also wears booties (he describes them that way in New Avengers #5 I think) , not shoes, and he has no soles, so the same thing applies to his feet.
