I am 21 years old. I have had a complex ovaria cyst for many years. Just 2 years ago I was diagnosed with it finally. My problem is it causes pain. I know it is still there, I have had recent ct scans show the cyst. My gyno seems to push this problem aside while focusing on other problems, such as my prolonged menstrual cycle. But I think something should be done. Is there anything that can be done? Is this cyst serious? I've had it for so long. It hasn't gone away at all. I'm not sure how big it is, except big enough to cause constant pain.

thanks DeeDee for that site.

not sure how helpful this may be in answering the question but i'll tell anyways. before finding out about the cyst, i was on birth control. then i stopped and got pregnant. still had the cyst during pregnancy. it's now 9 months later, and the cyst is still there, obviously. it' been spotted every month. most recent account being a couple weeks ago. i am currently on birth control again. but have extremely irregular period.

I suggest consulting another specialist/doctor etc because if you are in pain, then something should be done about it
OR at least the medical practicioner should be empathetic to your needs.

I had 11 cysts total and what I found was that they were extremely reluctant to remove them because I was not finished having my children and the risks did not outweigh the benefits. So I dealt with it for a total of 11 years.

I would get a second opinion just incase. Birth control did not eliminate my pain at all. I had a couple rupture and it definitely wasn't pleasant. I actually got sick when my body was reabsorbing the fluid... the doctor said it was what caused high fever and flu like symptoms.

I had a cyst like that it keep giving me problems and I told the doctor I wanted it out. He sent me to a surgeon and it was removed. Mine was the size of a soft ball. I love not having it any more yes I still have a little pain but nothing like it was.
