um, i'm not a woman but after reading some peoples comments i just had to have my say. I have alot of ink on my upper body and when I take my shirt off some people stare, some come and ask me about it, others avoid me. The reason for this is as unique to each person as their reaction. This is why I have no work above my t shirt line, because its fun for a while but it does get boring, so I can just pop my t shirt back on and all of a sudden no ones lookin. At the end of the day it's your problem, if you don't like being stared at don't get big and obvious tattoos in places you can't cover. The world't isn't going to change around you so don't expect it to.

people have always stared at chavs, you should have thought about that before you got all that rubbish put on your body. It's vulgar.
No and by the way they are NOT saying "oh look at her she has got a tattoo". Don't flatter yourself that you are UNUSUAL in any way. They are saying "look at that silly little b itch how common, all these little tarts have tattoos nowadays". But at least you are getting attention I suppose- which presumably was why you defaced yourself in the fist place. And also why you posted this so-called question. Because in reality, all you wanted to do was tell us all that you have got tattoos.
Imagine when you are an old granny, in the supermarket. You bend down to get something off the bottom shelf and everybody can see THAT.

Your confusing me,you said it didn't matter where you went that people stared, and then you said you however didn't take notice (of their staring). One statement conflicts with the other,I think. That is if I'm reading it correctly.
Anyway, I think it's like having on a t-shirt that says something funny, people are curious beings, they're probably just looking to see what the tatoo is , or what it says, so they can hopefully put a little piece of the puzzle together as to "who you are", without actually knowing who you are. ie. your likes, dislikes, interests, etc, etc. After all we are visual creatures, especially us males.

I would imagine that in big cities, London, etc, no-one would bat an eyelid... I, however, have seven tattoos and live in rural East Anglia, where you do get the odd stare if you look a bit 'different'!! Stuff 'em, I say! Enjoy your ink!! :-)

I don't give a monkeys what other people think. I love my tattoo's and love people starting at them in summer when Its the weather for showing them off. If people don't like it they can always look the other way. Im just thinking about getting another one actually :)

It's not only women that get stared at. I have tats and people still stare at me..........I just ignore them and let them go about their sad existance...if they are looking at or talking about me...then they are leaving someone else alone.
These type of people are of little or no consequence to my world.....the only thing that counts in my book is that my son loves them, especially the Phoenix on my leg coz he chose it, and so does my wife....

The purpose of getting a tattoo is to draw attention to yourself. Why would you get one if you didn't want anyone to look at it?
