does anyone else get as annoyed as I do when watching tv commercials? they always seem to assume that people are stupid and pander to the lowest common denominator. I am so tired of being subjected to it. the example I am thinking of right now is a new kfc commercial where a guy tells another guy not to put a dollar into a vending machine because he can get a snacker with buffalo sauce for a dollar and it's a better buy...they are at a train platform and a woman comes along and says "is this train going to buffalo?" (NY) I mean really....SOOOO stupid that I would not even want to go to kfc ever again just because I wouldn't want to patronize a place that assumes people are basically idiots. does anyone else agree?

I always mute commercials when they come on. Did you know...that commercials are 10% louder than normal programming? They do this to catch your attention. Ever notice how even though you meant to do something during a commercial..you find yourself sucked in until your show comes back on then your like dangit!!! I consider commercials to be brainwashers....its sad how I will hear people repeating what they heard on a commercial like the slogan or jingle and/or discussing something they saw on one....this is exactly what advertising companies want...because when someone repeats the slogan they heard...thats free advertisement for the company again. My grandma always said we should be paid for wearing shirts with name brands..because that as well is free advertisement. So I suggest becoming familiar with where your mute button is on your controller!!

Avoiding them is easy, just turn off the sound and have something around to distract you, like a magazine or a newspaper. Also if the program is over, just turn your tv off. If you keep it on you'll end up watching the commercials anyway...
You will run into some trouble with the other people watching the tv. Turning down the volume during commercials actualy makes most of them angry. They WANT to watch.

I agree. I mute every commercial on TV. Every one.
Advertising in every medium is embarrassingly stupid.
If all advertising disappeared it would not bother me.

Agreed, and I have done exactly that. Advertisers think they're being funny, but it doesn't always work.
