Martyn, Warne, McGrath..and now Langer. Plus, it surely cant be very long before Ponting, Gilchrist, and Hayden join them in retirement...and maybe Brett Lee too.

Thats almost the entire team that has dominated world cricket for years gone in a matter of months. There are a few good young replacements..but not enough for Australia to remain at the same level. At least England have a young squad who will still be together in two years time., so retaining the Ashes in England is going to be very, very difficult.

a matter of months... ahahahahhaha are you on something? Ponting has 5 to 6 years left, Hussey has 5 to 6 years left, Hayden will play for another 18 months, brett lee is 28 for christs sake and stuart clark, our new superstar is only 31 so another 5 years for him too. and we have the brilliant Phil Jacques to replace langer. oh and macgill is 2nd best leggie in the world. then there is Martin Love to replace hayden.

that is the thing. we dont do young replacements. we bring in 30 year olds with vast experience playing domestic cricket both here in aus AND IN ENGLAND for the county sides. our reserve keeper averages 50 as it is, thats Brad Haddin if you are wondering. oh, and michael clarke is 25.

meanwhile, vaughan will be past it by 2009, stresscoithick aint coming back, bell will be long gone, and harmison just retired from ODI's, so how long has he got?

of course losing two of the best bowlers ever will tough, no one is saying that wont hurt, but you forget that we only have to DRAW the next series to retain them, and while winning will be harder, as we cant take 20 wickets so easily, we easily have the batting line up to force draws and keep the ashes

well yeah but every side has thier turn at reighning and for the past 7 -10 yrs its been australias turn. of course we're not gonna be as good aftedr the 1st and 3rd wicket takers leave our side and with pple with the likes of martyn and langer.....but the cricket system in australia is really good, look at the likes of hussey, clarke, johnson, and clark they are fantasic esp hussey. maybe this will mean a more balanced competition in the future. plus brett lee still has 5 or 6 years left in him.

yes england hjave a young team that will be very good in the future but every one has to start some where. maybe when englands team has aged a bit and australia has some new players in u guys (asuming ur english) will dominate more. but then u guys will retire and its australias turn to dominate yet again, so its eally no use baggin out the aussie team and saying thire "dads army" cuase u guys will one day be old as well.

Yes no doubt that their great players are getting retirement, and still more will get off soon, But ponting ,Glichrist and brett lee don't seem to leave that soon, they still have pretty much time to play and they will play, till that time Australia will get some more talent, and that talent will get mature under guidance of these few players..I guess there will be some downfall for australia for some period of time, but won't sustain for long, as their system is very accurate, and their board is very well aware of these facts, so definitely they would be looking for some new better talent.and no doubt we will see some new talent in their team too.Australia is hardly been seen getting to much lower level. they have always kept themselves at good positions.Umm retaining Ashes!!! so who knows?? England has got it in last ashes, so they can get it again.

To be honest- who says that Pointing will continue to play till he's very late 30's, his skills will deteriorate, I myself don't know how good Australia will be without these players, it is unlikely that the replacements will be as good, but I still think that there replacements will still be enough not to dominate but to be successful

YOU HAVE NO IDEA? What drugs are you on?

No need to say anymore, why waste my thoughts on your stupid comment, except that Australia has an abundance of players to step up and play for Australia. You Pommies can not hold on to pressure, you are CHOKERS, failures and wanna be's.
