I got them for my leopard gecko, but they're noisy as hell and I want to make the switch to mealworms. The thing is, crickets give me the heebee geebies and I need to find a way of removing them without actually touching them.

hi there
i agree with Eric the older ones do chirp but it's only males that do ... meal worms r great treats but the hard outer shell will impacted ur gecko... ask ur pet store for droids crickets (i think that's what their called) ... they are the ones that cannot produce b/c the males cannot notify the female that its breeding time (chirping) hope this helps..

I hate touching them too. Crickets like to hide, so if you want to remove them quickly, place an empty paper towel roll in the cage. They will hide in there, then you can take the roll out and dispose of it without touching the crickets.

use the vacum or spray them with water untill you drown them and have someone else remove them. as far as changing your meals to mealworms i hope you mean regular mealies not superworms as super worms have been known to cause harm to small lizards. crickets really are the best thing for your leo along with the occasional pinkie mouse, wax worm, regular mealy. a leos main diet SHOULD be crickets though as everything else can be very high in fat

vacuum them and that doesnt kill them so as soon as you get them out throw that bag away and refill, unless you have a bagless then just flush them down the toilet
