We are real. Over the centuries, your planet was a curious place to visit once or twice and was not considered very interesting . Sure, your wars showed us how undeveloped you are as a species. Your infantile,(in cosmic terms) dependence on god concepts does not bode well for you and neither does your penchant to breed beyond your planet's ability to sustain you. We are now showing an interest in you because it is not often that we get to observe a species commit suicide. You are so close to maturing as a sentient species and it will be a shame to see you kill yourselves. There are just not enough of you becoming rational enough to force the issue. You let the least among you determine your fate, so be it.

Some people lie. Others are genuinely misinterpreting things.
People have always reported seeing inexplicable stuff in the skies.
People used to report seeing fairies and leprechauns and elves, as well.
No one really can be sure that no creatures exist outside of earth. Therefore, no one can say we've never hosted an interstellar Olympics, either.
Its just that outrageous claims require serious physical evidence

They'll be real to me when somebody produces one "defacto" which obviously hasn't happened yet.And I don't think it ever will.
However, an alien can also be translated as "a guest" by implication "a foreigner" or "strange" also.People's imaginations are what makes up the very fabric of the vast majority of our social beliefs today.Go figure?.

Since there are Billions of solar systems, odds are that they are real. But if they are advanced enough to travel interstellarly, I seriously doubt that they would have more than a passing curiosity with such a homocidally inclined world such as ours.

A lot of legends tell of serpents and reptilian races (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reptilian_humanoid) but I personally never met one.

as technology advances and we learn more about space - i would tend to think there could be life out there. it is hard to believe we are the only planet like ours.
