More like a feeling of not deserving it. When I was in high school the Psychology teacher kept using that term "you have to love yourself before someone can love you" but I didn't understand it.
I don't know if I understand it still, but I may have a better idea. I am afraid that when someone cracks my shell, they will see that I'm not nearly the person they think I am.
(This is a great question by the way. Really thought provoking...)

I sometimes wonder if I am afraid to love deeply again... but I think I would risk it if the right man found me.

Yes, deadly afraid. I don't know why, but I just feel vulnerable when someones loves me because I may love them back.

Not to be loved. It's just the other crap that goes along with it-all the emotional stuff. I love being in love!! It's hard to find someone at my age (54) to do so however.
