I mean it was an awesome tribute to him - but that dead body on the stage kind of creeped me out.

In hindsight - it might have been seeing Michael Jackson speak in public again that creeped me out the most! :p

yes. especially because it was not in a church but in a place where you go and get entertained. i don't feel that's any type of entertainment i would care to see.

Most funerals, that are of Black people, seem to feature closed caskets, and are surrounded by pictures of the deceased in happier times. Of course with Al Sharpton there, and looking for his photo ops, I'm surprised, he wasn't in the casket with James Brown.

No. unless you are freaked out by dead people. Do you realize that someday you'll be dead too? Think about. All the people you know and love, friends, family, babies: all will die.

Our perspective on dead bodies or even what is weird has been socialized into your conciousness by the culture you live in. If we all painted dead bodies green and ate them with ketchup for centuries in America, then you would think that putting them in the ground was weird. Lighten up about death, sweetie. Or should I say "get ready".

I don't think so. He was an entertainer and was used to always being in the spotlight. A good tribute to him to the end.

I HATE open casket funerals. My sisters and I have decided that once mom passes, we are forever ending that tradition.

No, it's natural for some cultures to do that.
It's a reflection of what greatness the man had achieved.

Every funeral I've ever been to has had an open casket. It's not unusual.

It's not weird to want to see your loved one for one last time! There was nothing creepy about Michael Jackson speaking about someone who inspired him!!
