The last time I had unprotected sex was five weeks ago. I had some bleeding for a few days which I thought was a late period (about a week after my expected period). In the last two weeks I tested negative on three hpts. This morning I took another because my breasts were KILLING me. The morning urine sample really is stronger because it read positive. So it is very possible to get a false negative.

Now my question is, I've had some drinks in the last few weeks because the tests were showing negative. I figured my pregnancy symptoms were in my head. Will the baby be okay, and why don't HTP companies tell us how common false negatives are?

There is no such thing as a false negative, you just didn't have enough of the pregnancy hormones in you yet to show up. Congrats!

I had a smiliar thing happen and i went out and drank actually got pretty drunk not knowing i was pregant well you will be glad to know my son is fine he is 4 now nothing wrong. Iit is very common to have a light late period when pregent i have three kids and found out with each of them i was pregant at 2 and a half months some women gt a period still I think you would have needed to drink everyday for it to become a real problem some women actually have a glass of wine here or there when pregant however i really dont recommend that . if you are worried I would see your dr and he could make you feel more at ease but i wouldnt worry i am sure all is fine as for the companies well you think that it should be a legal thing where they had to tell you but i guess they dont have to in the further test your morning urine or see a dr to get a test good luck with the little one

Some times the test does not come too soon It takes almost a fortnight of missed period to test properly, again the First Urine sample of the day should be used. Sometimes this test are not too accurate too, U must consult ur gynecologist for proper check up and advise.
Any Way Congrats.
Regarding harms due to drinks earlier, is of not too much to worry.
Just take proper precautions from now to have a safe delivery.

NEW YEAR WISHES

First of all, congratulations on your positive test. Second of all, the drinks you consumed won't affect your baby at this stage. The baby is just an embryo right now, and hasn't even started "tapping" into your blood supply. As long as you stop drinking now, everything will be fine.
False positives really aren't that common. HPT companies do all their testing in controlled circumstances, so they don't typically experience many (if any) false positives, therefore, they are not legally required to warn of false positives.
