There are too many deep cultural problems accompanied by rampant poverty for India to ascend to true superpower status in only 13 years. More powerful and influential than they are today for certain, but not a superpower that quickly. Superpower status will take longer to achieve.

Not until they get real human rights, get rid of the caste system and achieve a minimum of 80% literacy. And mandatory (without exception) education of children to at least 16 years of age.

Without these, super power status won't happen in India. If India had sufficient natural resources, it could achieve superpower status with less than these target figures, but it doesn't, so superpower status will depend on intellectual growth, marketing, and developement.

India can be a superpower in 2020 only if by that time it had already obliterated Pakistan.

If it continues to grow economically like it is, it should. I think it's about time that the world doesn't have just one superpower.
