... so I can't get onto it and change the network and ISP settings. Anyone have a good idea about how to hack into it? Faced with throwing it away and buying a new one if not. I have found a default .cfg file but I don't know how to upload it.

First off don't toss it away, below we have listed some helpful tips to get it going again for you. Print this out and go to work.

These Tips below lists the default username and password used to login to the web management console (and telnet console where supported) on all current models of Netgear routers.

The defaults are set when the router is shipped from the factory, and if the configuration is later reset.

For security reasons, we recommend that you change the password on your router. However if you do change your password, be sure to remember it or record it somewhere safe.

[It is not possible to change the default username]

If you lose the password, you will need to reset the router configuration (and lose all other configuration settings as well) to be able to login to the router.

Default Username/Password

I am amazed at how many people have computers and use password's.I use 2 pc's and have one password for both.I just add numbers to seperate the password's.I list them in a log.don's try to remember these important item's.Just because you have computers don't mean not to take note's.Letting someone else set a password is'nt bright either.Any if the above option's don't work.Disconnect router, empty what you have in pc that's for router.Reload cd for router,it should start from fresh. At least my netgear did when i reloaded mine after pc crash.

See if it has a reset button recessed somewhere probably on the rear panel. Push and hold it in for 10 seconds or more when it's powered on. This should reset the router's settings to the factory default password listed in the operating manual or on their website.
