Most of Ethernet runs on 100MB/s
USB 1.1 runs 120 Mb/s or 15MB/s
USB 2.0 runs 480 Mb/s or 60MB/s
so yes, Ethernet connect is faster than USB, but the question is kinda pointless. Two connections are for different things. Ethernet connection is more difficult to step but can be sustained over long distances. USB is primary for quick or short connection between two devices.

Although USB 2 is faster than some Ethernet adapters, if you use a wireless USB adapter that difference won't matter as you'll be limited by the speed of the wireless connection - typically less than 54 mbps and usually much less.

Ethernet is designed for networking, USB is a generic interface.
I would always choose Ethernet for any networking task.
Ethernet can operate at 10,100 or 1000 speed.
