Uh! They didn't eat their Wheaties growing up? Actually, it's more a matter of not using common sense rather than being stupid . A lot of people have a tendency to speak without thinking first. I call that foot in mouth disease instead of stupidity.

Personally, I suspect that television is a great contributor. Television tends to switch off the critical faculty in the viewer.

that depends on your definition of stupid. if you mean actually STUPID stupid, i blame our system of education. public education these days sucks. our standards have been dropping steadily over the years, creating generations of badly-educated individuals.
