It's really simple.
1.5 chickens can lay 1.5 eggs / 1.5 days = 1 egg / day.
1.5 chickens ------------- 1 egg / day
6* 1.5 = 9 chickens ---- 6 * 1 = 6 eggs /day
6 eggs / day * 9 days = 54 eggs.
So answer is 54.

If you want to get really technical, we should probably add the assumption that chickens lay eggs at a constant rate. Also, we should state that for purposes of this problem, phrases like "half a chicken" and "half an egg" make sense--that is, that we can treat chickens and eggs as continuous quantities (which they are not, of course).
Let's see...if a chicken and a half can lay an egg and a half in a day and a half, then we'd expect the same number of chickens to lay six times as many eggs in six times as many days.
So a chicken and a half can lay 9 eggs in 9 days.
If we had 9 chickens, we have six times as many chickens as one and a half, so we'd expect 9 chickens to lay 9 x 6 = 54 eggs in 9 days.
So the answer is 54.

assuming the counting for the one and a half day's time started at the start of the 9 days:
6 one and a half eggs will be laid in one and a half day with 9 hens (6 one and a half hens)
therefore, 36 one and a half (54) eggs will be laid in 9 days with 9 hens

im going to have to think the answer is 54 eggs1.5 hens produce 1.5 eggs in 1.5 days gives us the clue that1.5 hens produce 9 eggs in 9 days, and so this means 9 hens in 9 days will give 9*9/1.5=54 eggs!!...giving the possibility that no
No egg turns into a hen in 9 days 54 eggs.
